What are they? Why are they called sleeve? The word sleeve comes from clothing, it refers to the part of a shirt that covers the arms. many people are getting tattoos on their arms. A sleeve tattoo is a tattoo that covers the whole arm. There are quarter sleeves, half sleeve, and full sleeve tattoos. Quarter sleeve tattoos covers the forearm from the elbow to the wrist. Halv sleeves just covers half the arm, from the shoulder down to the elbow. The full sleeve covers the shoulder all the way down to the wrist. Sometimes the tattoo goes all the way from the shoulder in to the chest. If you are considering a full sleeve tattoo you have to be prepered for a long sitting. The most common motive on the arms are black and grey tribal tattoos. Tribal sleeve tattoos are very common. Other popular tattoo designs on the sleeve are dragon, koi ( an oriantal asian fish rich in color, very beautiful), flower, floral (for woman), Japanese sleeve tattoos, phoenix (rebirth symbol), maori, skull, angel (mostly female tattoo for girl), tiger and aztec sleeve tattoos.
Some people starts by having a quarter or half sleeve tattoo and later add another tattoo to make it a full sleeve tattoo. Tattooing can be very addictive once you start. Just keep it in mind that you might want to make the tattoo bigger later if you get a half or quarter sleeve tattoo, plan ahead.
